To the Bird Cage
Here are some tips that you can follow in taking care of your pet bird. This bird care guide will specifically center on selecting the cage for the birds.
When we choose a house where we will live in, we take time to check if the requirements we set will be met. We look at how spacious it is and if it will allow us to do the things that we have to do. We also study the general weather condition of the place. These are basically the same things that we look at when we select the ‘accommodation’ we will provide for our pet birds.
If the bird will be housed in a cage for long, we have look into its size. The cage has to be big enough to allow basic bird movements. The bird has to be able to spread and flap its wings without hitting anything. Small birds like mynas require a smaller cage than cockatoos. The cage should also provide even a short distance for the birds to be able to fly. It has to have space where the bird can take short flights unobstructed.
The cage also has to have accessories needed for some simple activities. It has to have a perch where the bird can stand on or do ‘vertical rotation.’ For birds who like climbing, there has to be horizontal bars. The cage should also have some toys for the birds to practice chewing.
Cleaning the bird cage is also part of this bird care guide. It is better to choose the cage that is easy to clean. There are cages available with pull out trays at the bottom. These trays can easily be pulled out to remove bird droppings.
Cages must not be placed where there is direct sunlight. It should also be placed away from where strong winds usually flow.
