Caring for Pet Birds like Canaries
Canaries are one of the most popular kinds of birds being taken care of as pets. Canaries are selected because they ‘sing’ beautiful songs. Canaries bred to become pets are easy to care for. Here is a bird care guide to help take care of your pet birds. This bird care guide is also applicable for canaries.

Birds should always be kept in clean cages. There are cages that you can buy with removable tray at the bottom. The tray collects bird droppings. It can be easily removed, washed and returned again.
Bird cages should be wide enough for them to flap their wings and fly. Flying, aside being in their nature, is a good form of exercise.
Diet can be anything from formulated food, seed only diets and bird feed mixes. Fresh fruits and vegetables are also good for pet birds. They contain phytonutrients or antioxidant pigments that are good in boosting birds’ immune system. Aside from preventing some diseases, phytonutrients also help the body in healing itself. Though fruits are generally good for birds, avocado has to be avoided as they can be poisonous to them.
Canaries eat the same things. However, it is interesting to note that tame canaries that are usually bright yellow in color become bright orange when fed with red peppers.
Birds should also be provided with clean water for drinking and bathing. A bath can be attached to one side of the cage so they can take a bath whenever they feel like it.
This bird care guide is simple and easy to follow and can be used for your canaries or whatever type of bird you have.
