Accessories for Pet birds
A bird care guide usually consists of reminders on addressing the housing requirements, nutritional concerns and health needs. What some bird care guides miss is selecting accessories for the birds. Selecting accessories for birds is just as important as the ones mentioned above. Accessories also affect the general well being of the birds. This bird care guide will center on these.

1. Perches. Perches are placed in cages to provide birds with something to stand on. They are also used by birds for exercising. Size of perches must fit their feet. Bigger birds naturally need bigger perches. Parrots for example need wider perches than canaries.
Perches can be made of different materials. Wooden perches are good for birds so they can practice chewing. Plastic perches can also be used but they are best only for small birds. Big birds can break them and they might get hurt through the process. Concrete perches are sometimes used and they are good for birds to trim their bills and nails on.
2. Toys. It is nice to see birds play inside their cages. It is nice to watch them goof around. It is therefore necessary that toys are provided to allow pets and owners to enjoy. Plastic toys are good for small birds. They are light enough for them to handle. Wooden and leather toys are good for big birds. They are good chew toys for birds like parrots and cockatoos. Some birds also like bells. Others like mirrors. Perhaps they like seeing their beautiful colors also.
3. Playpens. Playpens are accessories that are provided outside bird cages. They provide opportunities for birds to enjoy life outside the cage. However, playpens have to be supervised so the birds will not be able to escape.
4. Bathing accessories. Birds love to take a bath. A bath can be place at the bottom of the cage or it can be mounted on one side. If a bath is not provided, birds bathe in their drinking bowls. Bigger birds like to be sprayed with water regularly.
This bird care guide is all about answering your pets physical and emotional needs. Remember, birds have feelings like humans do.
